Summer Immersion
The GCE Summer Immersion is a 3-week infusion of inquiry, discovery, and mastery. Rising 8th-12th graders experience the GCE Model for Learning by participating in one of GCE’s unique courses and immersing themselves in the learning experience for three weeks.
Dates: Summer Immersion runs for three weeks, July 9-27, 2012
2012 Focus:
- Global Peace: An investigation of non-violent peace movements that focuses on Ghandi’s 4 principles. Through films, speakers, and case studies, this course examines peace movements around the world and helps students learn how to make meaningful action in tangible ways.
Time:
- Session A: Monday through Friday, 9:00am-noon. Session A is CLOSED at capacity.
- Session B: Monday through Thursday, 1:30pm-5:00pm; Friday, 10am-5pm
Location: All over the city.
AC Credit: Students earn up to .75 credits per course. Please speak with your school about transferring credits
Cost: $1,200 for 3 weeks.
All programs follow the GCE Model for Learning which includes customization for individual student interests and learning styles, attention to executive functioning, and development of digital portfolios. Summer Immersion participants explore the “City as Classroom” and will take public transportation on a daily basis. Lunch is NOT provided.
