Summer Immersion
The GCE Summer Immersion is a 4-week infusion of inquiry, discovery, and mastery. Rising 8th-12th graders experience the GCE Model for Learning by participating in one of GCE’s unique courses and immersing themselves in the learning experience.
2012 Focus: Global Peace: An investigation of non-violent peace movements that focuses on Ghandi’s 4 principles. Through films, speakers, and case studies, this course examines peace movements around the world and helps students learn how to make meaningful action in tangible ways.
Dates: July 16 – August 8
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: Monday through Friday, 2:30pm-5:00pm.
Location: GCE Chicago HS, 1535 N Dayton St
AC Credit: Students earn up to .75 credits per course. Please speak with your school about transferring credits
Cost: $1,200

GCE Prerequisite Course — This course is MANDATORY for incoming students: Based on student and family feedback from 2011-2012, we have developed a GCE HS prerequisite course. The purpose of the GCE prereq course is to prepare incoming students with the foundations that they need in order to be ready to succeed at GCE Chicago HS.

LOCATION: GCE Chicago HS
WHY: Bridge the gap to understanding the GCE philosophy, technology, model for learning, community, and limitations
COST: $150. We are sorry to charge for this, but the $150 covers the staff time to develop and deliver this pre-req course. Families may send checks made out to GCE. If you prefer to pay by credit card, please call and we can take your number over the phone.
