Purpose
GCE Mission:
- Cultivate global citizens capable of producing meaningful change in the world by building a laboratory for learning that demonstrates innovative, scalable and sustainable models for 21st century education.
GCE Vision:
- Design, test, and refine the Model for Learning in GCE Chicago HS, then share successful programs through community and corporate partnerships, educator training workshops, and curriculum distribution for public enjoyment.
GCE Differentiators:
- Integrated Curriculum Design
- In GCE’s model, every inquiry- and project-based course integrates traditional academic subjects, resulting in students developing increased creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative learning skills.
- City2Classroom
- GCE’s model includes weekly field experience, guest lectures and case studies that connect classrooms with the world and engages students in relevant and purpose-driven curriculum
- GCE-XLearning
- GCE’s 21st century blended-learning model melds the intimacy of in-person classes with on-line, global resources, available only through the digital universe; XLearning also provides a cost-efficient model that fosters creative thinking and dialogue across global cultures and viewpoints.
- Master Learners
- GCE develops Master Learners, trained educators who design and customize curriculum to meet the needs of unique students and learning environments. Master Learners participate in more than 350 hours of professional development per year, including collaborative peer coaching and evaluation.
